Prevention is a critical part of maintaining healthy vision. An annual eye exam is the best way to ensure optimal vision and catch problems before they can develop into more serious conditions. It’s important to remember that many eye disorders can initially manifest without any overt symptoms.

Not only are the eyes “the window on the soul”, they can also provide us with important early clues about other underlying health issues as well. A routine comprehensive exam can greatly reduce the danger of vision loss and give you important insights about your overall health.

At South Jersey Eye Associates, we recommend you get a comprehensive eye exam annually, or every one to two years, depending on your age and current quality of vision. However, children often require eye exams more frequently to monitor for any problems that could inhibit their learning ability.

In addition to comprehensive routine eye exams, our optometrists offer:

  • Diabetic exams
  • Contact lens evaluations
  • Glaucoma evaluations
  • Laser vision evaluations
  • Cataract evaluations

Comprehensive eye exams should also be a priority for your children. The American Optometric Association recommends children should receive their first eye exam between 6 and 12 months of age, again at 3 years of age, and before first grade—with regular eye exams approximately every two years thereafter.

At South Jersey Eye Associates, we do everything we can to make our pediatric eye exams fun and stress-free for children and parents alike. We understand that protecting your child’s vision is an essential part of helping them realize their potential.
