June is Cataract Awareness Month
Optometric Physician Dr. Russell W. Chappius III presents South Jersey Eye Associates “Eye on Vision” for June.
June is Cataract Awareness Month. Cataracts are a leading cause of blindness among older adults in the United States and more than half of all Americans have cataracts by the time they are 80 years old.
To delay a cataract, we recommend wearing sunglasses and a hat with a brim to block the sun’s ultraviolet rays. If you smoke, please STOP.
Be sure to schedule a comprehensive dilated eye exam at least once a year, where your doctor at SJEA can check for signs of cataract and other age-related eye problems such as glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration. Early treatment for these other eye diseases may save your vision.
Contact SJEA today to schedule an appointment to help ensure you and your family have their best vision possible. We look forward to seeing you soon!
