December is Safe Toys & Gifts Month

In 2017, there were approximately 251,700 toy-related emergency department-treated injuries, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC); 44% were to the head and face. So let’s be careful out there; toys are fun but choose safe ones for your kids.
Protecting children from unsafe toys is the responsibility of everyone. The best way to protect children from toy-related injuries is to follow some simple guidelines:
- Select age-appropriate toys and games – check labels
- Avoid sharp, protruding or projectile parts
- Include safety gear with sports equipment
