Clinical Technician
South Jersey Eye Associates in Millville
Job Description and Duties
- Greet and welcome patients from waiting area and escort to pre-testing area
- Perform the following pre-testing tasks:
- Obtain history and chief complaint (if patient is here for a problem)
- Perform visual acuity, aided/non-aided
- Perform auto-refraction and refraction with Epic system
- Perform visual fields, OCTs, and IOPs
- Instill dilation drops, if required
- Perform photos: Optos and/or Eidon systems
- Escort patient to exam room and prepare EHR data for optometrist
- During the examination, enter data into the EHR, including procedures, findings, and diagnoses codes
- Upon completion of exam, escort patient to check out or optical area and relay all pertinent information to staff
- Submit Prior Authorizations for prescriptions and diagnostics as indicated
- Order contact lenses and/or obtain trial contact lenses for patients
- Instruct patients on proper contact lens procedure, including assisting with insertion/removal of contact lenses
- Clean/stock pre-testing area and exam rooms
- Return patient messages
