Staying safe on the job is a must, but it’s important to remember that… Nearly half of all eye injuries happen at home during everyday activities like auto repair, hobbies, and yard work. Most of these eye injuries could be avoided if individuals were wearing protective eyewear—whether safety glasses, goggles or even a face shield.

For added safety, familiarize yourself with some basic first aid. A few tips:

• Avoid rubbing eyes that have particles or foreign objects on the surface.

• For blows to the eye, apply a cold compress for 15 minutes at a time every hour as needed.

• Have fresh water available to flush your eye.

• If your eye has discoloration, a cut, or a puncture, contact our office immediately.

With a few simple precautions, you can protect your eyes around the home for years to come.
