Our onsite optometric physicians, Dr. Michael A. Feinstein and Dr. Brandon J. Wuzzardo, are joined by consulting ophthalmologist Dr. Harry A. Lebowitz and oculofacial plastic surgeon Dr. Ari Abel. In addition, SJEA maintains a network of trusted sub-specialists in order to provide the full spectrum of advanced diagnostic and surgical vision care.
Dr. Harry A. Lebowitz
Dr. Lebowitz earned his medical degree at George Washington University and received his ophthalmology training at Yale University School of Medicine. He completed additional specialty training in retinal vascular diseases at the Retina Center of Maryland. A board certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Lebowitz was chairman of the department of ophthalmology for the Christiana Care Health System.
He is on the staff at Christiana Care Health System, Limestone Medical Center, and Temple Medical Center in addition to being on staff at Elmer Hospital in NJ. Dr. Lebowitz serves as clinical assistant professor of ophthalmology at Temple University School of Medicine and is an Adjunct Professor of ophthalmology at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He lectures extensively in the tri-state area on various health issues.
A committed volunteer in the fight against world blindness, Dr. Lebowitz has donated his surgical services in Vietnam, El Salvador, Senegal, Mauritania and the Caribbean Islands.
Dr. Lebowitz’s areas of expertise include no needle/no stitch cataract surgery and the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the retina and vitreous, especially diabetes and macular degeneration.
An avid fly-fisherman and computer-phile, he enjoys adventures with his wife and daughter.

Dr. Ari Abel
OCULOFACIAL PLASTIC SURGEON
As an Oculofacial Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Abel specializes in reconstructive and cosmetic surgery involving the orbit of eye, eyelid, brow, and tear ducts. One of only about 400 Oculofacial Plastic Surgeons in the country, he is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
After receiving his Medical Degree from Jefferson Medical College, he ompleted his residency in Ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins University and a fellowship in Ophthalmic and Facial Plastic Surgery at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York.
Dr. Abel is affiliated with the Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware and St. Francis Hospital of Wilmington, Delaware. He has extensive experience providing medical and surgical care for athletes and sporting events on high school, collegiate, and professional levels.
Dr. Abel has lectured on cosmetic and reconstructive surgery at national medical conferences across the country, and his many articles have appeared in both textbooks and professional journals. He is passionate about providing much-needed medical aid in developing countries and has donated his services in countries like India and Nepal.
